I try to instill the love of education -- and the English language, in particular -- in the young students I teach. Learning is less about achieving grade level proficiency than it is about adding something to the full fabric of a child's life. I specialize in teaching K-6. My primary subject is English, in all its requirements. Reading, writing, spelling, vocabulary, grammar are all a part of my set of skills. As a matter of style, I make certain at the outset that the student is comfortable not only with me but with the process, which I make clear is a collaboration between us (with a lot of positive reinforcement). I do not supply all the answers but I do encourage the kind of critical thinking which enables students to come to discovery themselves. I myself remain an addicted reader and writer. After leaving college, I made my living for many years as a practitioner of the English language, primarily as a writer: a journalist with United Press, a PR/Advertising executive, as a writer of fiction and non-fiction. Personally, I am devoted to my children, my pets and the memory of my late wife. I am also devoted to giving kids a new relationship with languages -- which will make the rest of their education so much more enjoyable. I am very accessible and I encourage my students, their parents and teachers to be in touch with me for even the smallest queries.
